Rosacea

Rosacea is a skin condition that is triggered by something causing the blood vessels in the face to expand.

Causes of Rosacea

The most common triggers are sun, hot weather, exercise, wind exposure, spicy foods, caffeine, tomatoes, alcohol, and stress.  Rosacea typically affects the face, including the cheeks, chin, nose, and mid forehead.

Symptoms & Diagnosis of Rosacea

It gradually develops between the ages of 30 and 50.  People with fair skin, Scottish, Irish, and Celtic descents are more predisposed.  Mild facial blushing can lead to a permanent red face with broken facial veins.

Treatments for Rosacea

IPL –intense pulsed light.  IPL penetrates to the second of layer of skin (dermis), without harming the first layer (epidermis), so less damage to your skin.  IPL causes a controlled injury to the superficial blood vessels, which in turn initiates your body’s natural response to break down and remove the damaged tissue.  Most people see a marked response after 3 IPL treatments.
