Because of the sheer volume of product options, skincare can be an extremely confusing pill to swallow. We get it! We also understand that this is a big reason why so many men avoid the process of skincare altogether. But here’s the thing, skincare is important! Even for men. It is a powerful tool against the most common issues men face…acne, wrinkles, sun damage, just to name a few.
So, guys, this one is for you. This is your year to commit to a regular skincare routine. Sound daunting? The good news is that building a skincare routine from ground zero involves a few easy steps, and you’ll be surprised to see what a difference it makes! Read more…
Wash your skin twice daily and after exercise. Cleaning your face at least twice a day (and after exercise) is important for removing oil build-up that can otherwise cause clogged pores and other issues. But before you start cleaning, you should get to know your skin type. Is it oily, matte, dry, or combination? Once you have this figured out, purchase the products best suited for your skin type. Are you already out of your comfort zone? No worries! The experts at Skin NV can determine your skin type and the products that will work best.
Moisturize. After you clean your skin, it’s time to moisturize (preferably with a cream or lotion that is at least SPF 50). Not only will this protect your skin from harmful UV rays, but it will also give your skin the hydration it needs, keep skin from flaking, and prevent the overproduction of oil from stripped cells.
Watch your shaving technique. A lot of men don’t realize that their shaving technique has a lot to do with the health of their skin! To prevent bumps from razor burn, there should be a major focus on using the right razor (switch out after every six to eight uses), shaving cream, and aftershave with a proper shaving technique. Because a razor presses and drags on your skin, it not only removes hair but skin and natural oils as well. This is especially the case if you’re using multi-blade razors, as they remove even more skin and oils!
Check your skin regularly for moles. To reduce your risk of skin cancer, it is critical to check your moles on the reg (and don’t forget to look behind the ears!). Most moles remain consistent in size, color, and appearance, so if you see one that has changed or looks different from other moles, see a dermatologist immediately.
